The Coquitlam Celebration Choir is pleased to announce that Jonathan Wiltse is our new director as of Summer 2016. After completing an energetic first year together, Jonathan is currently choosing a new repertoire for us to begin rehearsing in September 2017. We look forward to singing with him again!
Jonathan's musical career spans over 4 decades, from performing in the NAC Opera Chorus and singing with Christ Church Cathedral's prestigious choir in Ottawa as a youth, to later working in a variety of capacities as a musician. Jonathan holds a B.A. from the University of Toronto, and has also studied music at Vancouver Community College where he was a double major in voice and piano. He has directed workshops in improvised song creation, and co-directed the Songs on the Spot improvised choir at the Surrey Arts Centre. He was the musical director of Rock Comedy Experience: Never Say Gaga and was integral in Vancouver Theatresport’s Improv Musical, which ran for three years until 2012. As an accompanist he has worked extensively with UBC, VCC, Ballet BC, Arts Umbrella and the Vancouver Bach Youth Choir. Jonathan has done numerous arrangements for choirs and other ensembles, including Pacific Showtime Chorus, the Vancouver Community College Concert Choir, Sarabande and the Mt. Pleasant Brass Ensemble. Jonathan has been the musical director of Pacific Showtime Men's Chorus in White Rock since 2013, and maintains a busy schedule teaching piano and voice, as well as performing his comedy piano show all over the Lower Mainland. |
