Who We Are:
The Coquitlam Celebration Choir was founded as a performance group and a community service project in October 2010 by Amy Stephen, who shared her wonderful love of music with us until the spring of 2016. She then moved to Nanaimo, and we are delighted to welcome our new director, Jonathan Wiltse, a multi-talented musician and director. We sing for the joy of singing and to assist others by raising money through our performances. Profits from two concerts per year are donated to local and international non-profit charities. As well, we have been invited to participate in 'The Festival of the Voice' in Mission, to assist with a special service for Crossroads Hospice, and in January 2018 we were the stage choir for a performance of "The Events", directed by Richard Wolf, in the Push Festival.
Celebrating music and its diversity, the choir’s repertoire comes from around the world. We sing in other languages, from many countries, as well as pop and modern compositions in English. Our members bring a variety of musical skills and we enjoy developing more with help from our director, as well as sharing in the camaraderie of singing with others.
Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings at St. Laurence Anglican Church in Coquitlam, from September through to early June each year.
Since our inception, with a small group of singers, we have grown to a full SATB choir, with over 30 members at present. We are currently accepting new members.
